The Life changing Journey of International Students

Studying abroad is a life-changing experience that changes the students view of the world and their education. Flexibility, an interest in learning, and a wide range of cultural ideas are all introduced by international students.

For individuals who set out on this path, the experience frequently transforms their lives. The International students faced lots of challenges abroad like adjusting to a new culture and handling academic demands, but they shared their views that these challenges benefit from studying abroad.

For many international students, one of the biggest challenges is adjusting to a new culture. Being used to a new culture is one of the most difficult things for many international students.

Indian students like Sanamdeep, who is studying at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology,( SAIT) remembers how difficult the language barrier was.

Sanamdeep Kaur, SAIT journalism student, has felt more comfortable with English as her studies have progressed.

At first, she found it challenging to communicate in English, particularly in class. She says, “Well, I was feeling nervous and self-conscious that I was not able to make new friends.”

While learning a new culture is one part of being an international student, the academic difficulties are equally important. International students typically are faced with a different system of education, which can be difficult.

The change from an educational system that stressed memorized facts to another that emphasizes critical thinking and active engagement proved beneficial for Akashdeep. “Back home, the focus was on memorizing facts, but here, professors encourage us to question ideas and engage in discussions,” he claims.

“At first, this felt like a lot of pressure, but I soon realized how much more rewarding it was to think critically and contribute to class discussions.”

The challenge of being an international student gives huge personal growth despite the challenges. Sanamdeep’s perspective has been increased or her individuality increased because of the experience. I think my confidence and independence have increased.

I gained the ability to exercise risk, effectively control my time, and manage difficulties on my own, she says.

Akashdeep supports, highlighting how his work visions changed as a result of the overseas experience. “I didn’t know much about working with people from other cultures before coming here. I now, however, see it as a strength for my future profession. I’m confident that my ability to work in a variety of settings will help me in the global labor market,” Akash says.

Being an international student involves more than just academics; it also involves accepting new ways of living, facing challenges, and facing growth in oneself.

Many people’s personal and professional lives are forever changed by the experience, which equips them for a world that is more connected than ever. The trip is difficult but worthwhile, and the lessons gained are priceless, as Sarah and Ali tales demonstrate.
